Sonja Kissling is senior advisor at Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise, a highly specialized global advisory firm serving family enterprises. Cambridge Advisors and Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprise, an education and research institute, are divisions of Cambridge Family Enterprise Group (CFEG), a global organization founded in 1989. It is devoted to helping families and ownership groups navigate the new economy and achieve multigenerational success for their families, enterprises, and financial wealth.
Ms. Kissling advises later-generation family enterprises with complex systems on issues of family governance, ownership strategy, and succession planning. Ms. Kissling is an attorney-at-law with a focus on conflict resolution processes, negotiation, and mediation. Ms. Kissling practiced law for eight years in the area of mergers and acquisitions and also advised small and medium sized businesses on corporate and contract law issues.
Ms. Kissling is a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen and co-author of the book Successful On and Off the Stock Exchange – Governance Practices in Family Firms. Ms. Kissling has authored extensive articles on family enterprise topics including ownership, business strategy, and family offices.
Ms. Kissling earned her PhD in business strategy from the Centre for Family Business of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and her LL.M. at Columbia University, New York. Ms. Kissling studied law in Zurich and Geneva and is a member of the Swiss Bar Association, Zurich Bar Association, and the Institute for Mediation. Ms. Kissling is fluent in German, English, and French.
