Ed Morata is the Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Family Enterprise Group, a global organization created in 1989. It is devoted to helping families and ownership groups navigate the new economy and achieve multigenerational success for their families, enterprises, and financial wealth. It is comprised of two divisions: Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise, a highly specialized, international advisory firm serving family enterprises, and Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprise, a leading education and research institute dedicated to the significant issues that family enterprises face.
Mr. Morata has more than 35 years in executive leadership, largely in global financial institutions, including in commercial banking, investment banking, and wealth management. In various functions across multiple continents, he has established, grown, and reorganized companies, business units, and programs, balancing short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic objectives.
In addition to leadership positions, Mr. Morata has advised business owners and members of owning families on strategic growth issues such as M&A transactions, fund raising, financing growth, and corporate reorganization. In private banking, he has advised families on their multigenerational wealth strategy, tax strategy, and legal structures for investment offices. He co-founded Eneas Alternative Investments, a private equity firm focused in the Iberian Peninsula.
Mr. Morata’s work is driven by a passion for conscious capitalism perspectives and the development of new entities focused on redeeming capitalism for the benefit of a broader stakeholder base. He is co-founder of ForFuturing, a consultancy firm that specializes in advising commercial enterprises, financial institutions, and non-profits on their ESG strategies. He assists them in developing the processes protocols, and activities to be socially accretive operations. Since 2018, Mr. Morata has been Senior Advisor in the Ibero-American General Secretariat in its project to create a taxonomy for the Fourth Sector for Ibero-American countries. From 2014–2016, he was Managing Director of the Perlmutter Institute for Global Business Leadership, associated with the International Business School of Brandeis University.
Mr. Morata has a Master of International Economic Relations Law degree from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and a BA in Public Administration from the Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getúlio Vargas. He completed post graduate strictu sensu studies from Universidade de São Paulo and attended executive education programs at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern, the Executive Leadership Institute (a partnership between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government), IESE Business School, and INSEAD. He is a native speaker Portuguese, is fluent in English and Spanish, and has working knowledge of French.
